What is the difference between MediScan orthotics and the machines I can stand on in the store?
Although the weight bearing machines in all varieties of stores are high tech appearing they miss out on the most important component, neutral (your ideal foot position). The purpose of a well made custom orthotic is to have the foot function in a neutral position. By scanning the feet in a weight bearing position this is not achievable.
Instead with MediScan your foot is scanned in a neutral, simulated weight bearing position when following our instructional video which allows for the most accurate and effective device.
The Second difference is the Podiatrist review. Every Single pair of MediScan orthotics is hand crafted by a MediScan approved podiatrist. The Doctor will review the scans, and photos, as well as problem areas, and apply appropriate posting to get the foot to neutral. Simply put, podiatrist undergo 7 years of advance training and medical school to gain complete knowledge of the foot and ankle, and that specialized training is what delivers exceptional results.
Are MediScan orthotics hard?
MediScan custom orthotics are made off a patients body weight. Therefore, they provide the perfect balance of support and cushion. Not to hard, not to soft. Ideally a perfect orthotic should function in some way similar to trampoline, allowing the foot to move dynamically but still within the normal parameters of motion, similar to how a trampoline cushions the fall, but doesn’t allow you to hit the ground.
Why are over the counter orthotics not good enough?
OTC orthotics are made for the masses, therefore they lack the ability to be supportive, instead focusing on cushion which wears down quickly and further destabitizes the foot during activity.
What about other “custom orthotic” companies?
It is true other companies make devices that are individual to the consumer, and ultimately these devices are superior to store bought insoles. However, they lack the final touch of being adjusted to properly align the foot on an individual basis by a Podiatrist. MediScan also offers a chat feature to briefly discuss your problems with a practicing podiatrist, saving you both time and money on an in office visit with high co-pays and deductibles!
